信頼できるのは、ゲノムシーケンス解析結果のみ。（明確な理由は文末）という方針で進めてきたが、陰謀論的障壁に遭遇し、中断した。
その後、圧倒的多数のデータが、世界中から集積され、様子がわかってきた。
結果として、COVID-19は、約15日に一回のペースで変異を起こし、世界で2000以上の種類に分岐、展開している。
その変異の履歴を辿れば、どこからどこへ遷移していったかは、詳細にわかる。
一例として、アメリカで、感染爆発が始まった起源は、中国、武漢を訪問していた、３５歳のシアトルの男性からであることがわかっている。（まあ、これで一応、陰謀論的障壁が瓦解した。また起源を遡ると、ある時点で、動物から人間に移行した証拠が見つかり始めている。結局これらは、陰謀論を否定する。（完膚なきまでに否定することになりそうである））
その2000種のファミリーを、ヨーロッパと、アジアで、樹形図化したものが、写真である。(世界中のものが存在するが、アフリカ、南米、南半球は、まだ十分なデータが集まっていない。)
日本は、香港、台湾、シンガポール、韓国などと同じファミリーに属する。（ゲノムシーケンスの変異パターンの属性が似通っており、従って、罹患率、致死率なども似通っている。）
この詳細解析から得られるインサイトは、膨大かつ多様であろうが、未だ、データが上がってきている真最中であり、その全容を紐解くには長い時間を要するであろうし、時々刻々と変異は今も続いている。
現時点まででわかったこと。

つまり？
つまり、現在までのインサイトによれば、私たちが最悪のケースとして恐れていたような、「完璧に設計された最強・最悪のウィルス」ではなさそうだ、ということができる。（変異したから、より害悪が強くなるということでもない。ただ、異なった変異種が競合する場合、感染力の強い方が広がるということはある。）
